After my loooooong break from pistol shooting while studying, I finally came back to ASTir Creil to train with the MOP team, Aurore and Daniel Goberville. Following the French season calendar, the team was back to training to prepare the 10m French National Championship. This is what we did.

My Pistol Training and Shooting Goals for 2023
With the help of Paul Hughes and the community of shooters around him, I’ve finally made a comprehensive goals document for 2023 and the years to come, based on his Big Hairy Audacious Goals. You can find everything here: from why I shoot to my process and outcome goals, and how I plan to execute them. Having this goals framework will help me do a lot less work every year.
10 Weeks Pistol Training Program To Restart the Season After a Long Break
This 10-week training program to get back in shape after a long break comes from the mind and experience of coach Philippe Stiel, who is currently coaching Luxembourg’s pistol team and did the same for a long while with the Belgian national team (from where this training plan comes from). One of his shooters kept notes and was so kind as to share them with me. Philippe agreed immediately when I asked them if I could share them with you.
Hardcore Hold Training
While working with Philippe he encouraged me to be more active in creating my own training plans and exercises. Something I wanted to improve at the time was my hold endurance. This is the training plan I used to get a strong arm.
Physical Training Plan For Pistol Vacations
A general conditioning training plan, to maintain or improve physical endurance and some of the muscles that we use for shooting.
My First Training With Philippe Stiel
These are the notes from my first ever training session with Philippe Stiel, former coach of the Belgian pistol national team. He’s the only ISSF pistol coach I found in Belgium and the commute to the training range was manageable with a new born and a small kid at home. Working with Philippe was great and it also gave me the opportunity to meet the friendly people at the CCAT range.
Balance, Stop and Endurance Training Plan (With Left Shots Correction)
After last week’s notes on how to fix a slump and shots going to the right (contrary to my usual left shots at the time), this time Santiago sent a training plan and some notes to work on body balance, arm stop in the aiming zone, and endurance, plus how to fix some mistakes that could have caused the left shots. First we dive into his wisdom and notes:
2nd Two Week Pistol Training Plan To Improve Shoulder, Balance, Hold, and Trigger Execution
After sending the targets of my training days to Santiago, he delivered this two week training plan to : strengthen deltoid muscles to improve holding, improve balance, improve hold, and improve shot execution.
Two Week Pistol Training Plan To Improve Shoulder, Balance, Hold, and Trigger Execution
The next training plan from Santiago Gómez Salgado was done after using the prior pistol training and spending three days training on site with him in Spain. These are the main areas he identified I had to work on:
